Jess Johns
Director of Operations
The Idea Logical Company
Publishers Launch Conferences
Jess Johns joined The Idea Logical Company in 2010. She manages ILC’s day-to-day operations and coordinates all the conference programming and planning efforts for Publishers Launch Conferences. She works closely with our clients and partners to deliver quality, value, and insight across all our conferences and consulting projects.
Jess helps to shape our conference programs by scouting and recruiting speakers, liaising with our supporting partners and sponsors, and staying abreast of the topics impacting trade publishers today. As our resident technologist, Jess also evaluates new technology offerings for their relevance to the publishing industry.
With a background in data and analysis, Jess has helped to develop surveys and conduct research and interviews on a wide range of publishing topics, including: reading habits of tablet and smartphone users, rights management systems, app development platforms, vertical growth areas, ebook royalties, and ebook sales to libraries.
Jess graduated from Brown University in 2005, where she studied art, education, and media theory. While at Brown, she managed the student call center and help desk services for computing labs across campus. Prior to joining The Idea Logical Company, Jess served as an AmeriCorps member and then worked in data and evaluation for Ready to Learn Providence, an early education nonprofit organization in Providence, RI.
Jess is the proud aunt of two young nieces who live with her in the Bronx.
