Morris Communications

Morris Communications is a leader in media with high-quality brands that provide community, news, information, advertising, entertainment and related content through diverse digital channels and distribution outlets. The Morris book publishing division, The Globe Pequot Press in Guilford, Conn., is a leading publisher and distributor of outdoor recreation, lifestyle and leisure titles.

Publishers Launch Conferences

This ongoing series of conferences addresses the urgent needs and business concerns of trade book publishing professionals around the world and regularly features leading publishing industry influencers, thinkers, and executives.

The Quarto Group

Established in London in 1976, Quarto has grown substantially, both organically and through selective acquisitions around the world. Each year Quarto publishes 600 new illustrated books for adults and children, to be sold in 35 countries and in 25 languages. Subjects range from Art and Craft ‘How to’, Graphic Design, and Home Improvement, to Cookbooks, Motoring, and Popular Reference.

Recorded Books

Recorded Books is an independent publisher and distributor of unabridged audiobooks on cassettes and CDs. Recorded Books is a division of Haights Cross Communications, a premier educational and professional publisher dedicated to creating the finest books, audio products, periodicals, software and online services, serving the following markets: K-12 supplemental education, public and school library publishing, audiobooks, and legal and medical publishing.

Semi-Linear / Citia

Helmed by angel investor Linda Holliday, Semi-Linear is the developer of the new digital reading platform Citia. In an effort to make reading more visual, more social, and more efficient, Citia reorganizes books onto virtual index cards — each one a custom showcase for a discrete point. These “idea cards” live in a 3D interface, freeing the ebook from its paginated, linear constraints and enabling readers to easily explore new concepts. Designed for the touchscreen, the cards can be emailed, tweeted, or posted to Facebook.

Citia currently has partnerships with major publishers including Penguin, HarperCollins, Hachette, O’Reilly, and Perseus.

Transnational Business Solutions

Transnational Business Solutions are a business and knowledge process re-engineering company, providing onshore / offshore outsourcing solutions to clients in the financial services, publishing, multimedia, healthcare and leadership training and development industries.

For the publishing sector, Transnational provides high quality end-to-end prepress solutions for the entire production flow, from design execution to release-for-print for both traditional and digital print. Transnational’s Electronic Pre-press Services group works closely with printers, publishing houses, service bureaus, and data centers to create long-term value through an onsite/offshore delivery platform.

Wawa

Wawa Inc. is a chain of convenience store/gas stations with nearly 600 locations in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, and Florida. The family-run and largely employee-owned business is celebrating 50 years in business in 2014.

West Broadway Distribution Services / Soho Publishing

West Broadway Distribution Services, LLC (WBDS) supplies specialty retailers with a comprehensive and well-managed book inventory. WBDS’s innovative software system enables them to test titles, to maximize title rotation, to minimize returns and to produce the greatest yield per square foot, delivering more sales for both retailer and publisher.

SoHo Publishing is an established leader in the craft magazine and book publishing arena. SoHo creates and publishes the most widely known and respected magazine titles in the knitting, crochet and handicraft industry. They partner with some of the most recognizable names in the craft and fashion industry to produce customized magazines and books. Originally created as a division of the Butterick Pattern Company, SoHo has been an independent, full-service publishing company since 2001.
